Confessions of A GChat Addict
This summer I left the country for two months and came back with an addiction.
To GChat, obviously. But you probably figured that out from the title I wrote, thereby spoiling my own intended dramatic opening.
Most instant message clients annoy me, but I could easily just sit on GChat for an entire day. So I started wondering what, exactly, was so different about Google’s version.

You know when you reach that point in packing where you can’t possibly believe you own—and have to transport—this much stuff, and want to just climb inside your suitcase, curl up in a giant ball and cry until it’s Friday afternoon and somehow your belongings are all magically inside your South Campus apartment, neatly organized, and not spread out all the entire lower floor...

There are days when I’m reasonably sure I picked journalism as a career so that I’ll never have to grow up to a real life, functioning adult, the kind who wears business suits and works “mornings” and doesn’t consider chocolate-hazelnut croissants an appropriate lunch.
So suffice it to say I don’t care much for thinking about the real world, the scary moment...
